Key Tip Offs To Crack JEE Advanced

It’s high time to get into the examination groove and give your best shot to the JEE Advanced Entrance Exam, being just round the corner. JEE Advance is a competitive exam conducted to judge a student’s analytical power, reasoning ability, theoretical knowledge along with comprehension skills. The exam has two papers, Paper 1 & 2 where in Candidates have to appear for both the papers featuring MCQs as well as numerical-type questions.

Preparation tips:

  • Focus on conceptual clarity first with NCERT Books : First things first should be your mantrafor any preparation. Clear your understanding of all the basic concepts and application skills, which will be the key to help you crack any problem. Master the core concepts first through your NCERT Books and then move on to other reference books.
  • Pay attention while you practice : Revise all the formulae and pay attention to the type of questions and the methodology applied, so that it becomes easy for you to solve similar questions with variable numbers during the exam.
  • Attempt many mock tests in advance to avoid calculation errors: It’s advisable to appear for a lot of mock tests before the exam that will give insights on commonly made mistakes and will make you accustomed to the examination pattern and environment beforehand.
  • Create a separate book for quick revisions : It may seem difficult to go through your entire course and every chapter of the three subjects in the last few days before the exams. Thus your master key with all the important points and formulas created beforehand will come handy for the last minute quick yet thorough revisions.
  • Stick on to your own syllabus and don’t go overboard at the last minute : With just a few days left for the exam, concentrate on revising and mastering what you have already studied instead of exploring and learning additional lessons, which may complicate your study techniques as well as the study schedule.
  • Stick on to one or two key reference books : Every reference book has its own technique and methodology to solve problems. Thus, it is advisable to follow one or two key books and master the art of problem solving with the chosen methodology as guided by your mentors.
  • Prioritize to complete the entire Syllabus and each subject: Give equal importance to all the three subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, as you cannot afford to ignore a subject or leave a section unprepared.

Examination Tips

  • Avoid guesswork and be sure of your answers : You might just get lucky for a guess in one or two questions, but it is advisable to be sure of your answers and not to attempt the questions you are unsure about, to avoid negative marking, which will in-turn save both your time and marks.
  • Attempt the papers as per your competency level : By now you must be aware of your strong and weak segments .Thus create your exam strategy and attempt the questions that you are most confident about and then move on to the other segments.
  • Do your rough work neatly and write with legible Handwriting : This will help you verify your calculations without any confusion while you copy the responses from the rough sheets to the final copy.
  • Take notice of our time to solve one problem : Time is very crucial in these competitive exams and you cannot spend too much time on one question. If you are stuck with a formulae or an application, do it in a stipulated time or else leave it, complete the entire paper and then try to reattempt if you are left with time.
  • Keep calm and learn from your mistakes: It’s good to learn from your mistakes that you must have realized after attempting JEE Mains.

How to Increase Speed and Accuracy to Crack IIT JEE Exams

IIT-JEE is all about accuracy and speed, and while preparing for it the students need to steer their focus on something really beyond preparation. so that they can maximize their scores in the exam, since it’s all about smart preparation. One needs to know the catch to crack IIT JEE since your speed and accuracy in the exam depends a lot on questions you attempt first. Here is a detailed subject wise study plan that may help you prepare and score well in IIT-JEE.So here we go

Accuracy and Speed

Work on your IQ levels so that you can solve many problems. One must know that the key factors that lie in cracking IIT JEE in solving a number of questions accurately in the stipulated time frame. It’s important to maintain the level of concentration and is advised that take 2 minutes break after finishing each section be it physics, mathematics, chemistry, that will help you regain your energy and concentration, even if not in one go, but fairly closer to it, to achieve the desired number of attempts.

Refer only Standard Books and Study Materials

It’s important to choose the best books and not multiple books and rather study them multiple times because the quality of study is more crucial than the quantity. You can consider Vidyasagar study materials that has been ideally made for IIT JEE based on NCERT. The notes are concise and to the point and covers the entire course material of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in a most lucid and easy to understand manner.

Physics

  • Know the Correct Formulas: You must prepare in a way that all the correct formulas and concepts are at your finger tips, that will help you to solve problems more efficiently.
  • Prepare Segment Wise: It’s important to know that electric and magnetic field section has some 20-25% questions, while the modern physics has some 10-15% questions from the physics section. You should be able to sort out at least 2 options out of 4 questions thereby finding the right option. You can solve questions from this section using direct formulas, which will save your time. You can also use Dimensional Analysis and units to solve certain questions that will save your time , helping you to utilize it at the end for difficult problems.
  • Attempt those questions that appear easy to you: It’s not necessary to attempt questions serial wise, but rather look at the question paper and attempt questions that appear easy to you.
  • Attempt questions level wise: Start attempting questions that require direct formulas or the two-line questions and slowly come to moderate level and difficult level questions. This will help you with enough time to finish the paper and also review your answers.Answering random questions from the test paper, if it is from the difficulty section will involve too much time to finally answer it.You can try attempting Revision test series by DnyanMudra Tutorials that gives you a difficulty index mapping that helps gauge students performances on difficult questions and likewise prepare them to attain solutions.
  • Divide Questions According to Difficulty Levels: After taking the tests, analyze the questions and divide then in three categories that depends on the time that you take to solve each level i.e from Easy to solve, Medium that requires conceptual clarity and more confidence in solving the problem and Hard wherein you need to do in depth study about the topic to be able to solve the questions. After this identification you must solve the questions in the order of easy, medium and difficult levels respectively, that will help you score well and also save your time.

Mathematics

  • Time Management: Mathematics is the most scoring section of JEE.While practicing the sample papers you will certainly get an idea of which section seems most easy for you. For example begin with questions of algebra that can be easily and accurately solved and then after touch the lengthy ones, where too much calculation is required. One can begin with attempting quadratic equations, matrices, and coordinate geometry. You can also find some direct questions in circles and straight lines that will be easy to attempt.
  • Smart Work: IIT JEE Aspirants must use certain tricks to save time and obtaining correct solutions. Matrices and determinants happens to be one of the most scoring topics, thus it’s important to know various matrices and their properties, Trace of matrix that gives the sum of roots and determinant gives the product of roots.Hence these facts also help in solving complex multiplications of matrices.Similarly it is important to know the formulae of sum and product of roots to solve Quadratic Equations Questions which is an important topic wherein students can score good marks.

Chemistry

  • It’s important to decide on the order of answering the questions: Even if you are confident of certain sections in which you have the command. It’s always good to start with inorganic chemistry then physical chemistry and then organic chemistry, rather than organic chemistry in the very beginning because you might get stuck in the calculations, that are both tricky and confusion. So go for inorganic chemistry first to start with classification of elements, periodicity in property, block elements and likes, wherein the questions are easy to answer as the questions require direct knowledge of the concepts.
  • Try to answer the questions of interlinked chapters: Try to attempt the questions from the interlinked chapters such as P- block elements , s-block elements and Classification of elements and periodicity in properties /Mole concept , Solutions and gaseous state / Redox reactions, electrochemistry and ionic equilibrium /Haloalkanes and Haloarenes / Aldehyde, ketones and carboxylic acids / Alcohol phenoles and ethers etc.
  • Don’t waste too much time on a single question: Since you have very limited time, do not get stuck to a particular question. If you find that a question is taking too much time, leave it since u have to answer so many questions within the stipulated time.
  • Brush up the Skills for solving questions: You need to be well worse with the variety of tricks and techniques to solve every questions in the chemistry section.
